What is lure coursing?
One Lure. One Dog. Full Speed.
Lure coursing taps into something ancient in every dog — the chase. A white lure is pulled at speed along a line down the CPE Speedway, and dogs do what they were born to do: run it down. Sighthounds were bred for it, but at the CPE Speedway, every dog gets to feel it.
It's the loudest, happiest corner of the Christmas Canadian Pet Expo — a crowd gathered at the barriers, cheering on every run. Whether your dog is a blur of muscle or a wiggling mystery mix, the Speedway is the memory they take home.

How It Works
From check-in to finish line in four easy steps. No pre-registration, no experience required.
Check in at the arena
Register your dog at the CPE Speedway desk when you arrive. Dogs run one at a time in the order they're registered.
Wait for your turn
Hang out ringside and watch the action. You'll be called up when it's time to step up to the start line.
Release and chase
On the signal, release your dog — the lure fires down the course and instinct takes over. Most dogs know exactly what to do.
Take the action home
Capture the moment or order a keepsake action photo of your dog mid-chase. Take home a printed memory of their run of a lifetime.
Before you run
Rules & Eligibility
Simple rules that keep every run safe and every dog happy.
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old and in good health.
- All breeds, mixes, sizes and speeds are welcome — no experience needed.
- Flat buckle collar or well-fitted harness only; no prong or choke collars while running.
- One dog on course at a time, held by a handler at the start line.
- Dogs showing signs of stress, injury or aggression will not run.
- Handlers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at the start line.
- The lure operator's call on the course is final — it's all about safe, happy runs.

First-timers are the stars
Most dogs have never seen a lure course before — and that's the fun. The moment the lure moves, instinct takes over.
Come early on Saturday
Lineups are shortest on Saturday morning. It's the best window for nervous or first-time dogs.
Warm up your sprinter
A short walk before your run helps. A dog that's been crated all morning will launch like a rocket.
Every dog runs its own race
Some sprint, some zig-zag, some stop to say hello. Every style of run gets cheered.
